For the protection of all God’s children, every minister 16 or older must have a background check. All ministers 18 and older must have VIRTUS training.
Youth Ministry
Our newly formed Youth Ministry provides a welcoming space for teenagers to deepen their Catholic faith and build connections with fellow young believers. Guided by our parish mission to invite every person to know Jesus Christ through loving service and works of mercy, this parent-led ministry creates opportunities for youth to encounter Christ present in the Word and the Breaking of the Bread. As we grow together, we hope to encourage older youth to take leadership roles in guiding discussions and activities, with parents providing support and guidance as they grow.
Through prayer, discussion, fellowship, and service, our gatherings help young people discover how they are beacons of hope when they reflect the light of Christ. We envision a community where youth develop strong spiritual foundations, authentic friendships, and the confidence to be witnesses of Christ’s love in their schools, families, and communities, accepting and sharing His gift of salvation.

CYO
Serving the greater Ronkonkoma area for more than 50 years, St. Joseph’s CYO is one of the larger CYO programs on Long Island. We offer programs in Baseball, Basketball, Soccer, Softball and Track in both the spring and fall seasons and supplement those programs with learning camps when possible. Our programs are designed to teach fundamentals and place sportsmanship over competition.

Scouting
Catholic Scouting is a long-standing part of our parish’s ministry to youth. It applies the principles and methods of Scouting America (formerly Boy Scouts of America) with Catholic core values, providing young people with opportunities for spiritual growth, leadership development, and service. Cub Scout Pack 272 for Boys and Girls, Scout Troop 272 for Boys, Scout Troop 272 for Girls, and Scout Troop 2720 for Scouts with Special Needs, are all part of the Scouting America family – committed to service, leadership and community. Our units actively give service through meaningful projects and activities. We use the Scouting Method to build character, teach skills, and develop leadership in young people to make a positive impact in our world. We help protect the environment with trail and park cleanups, organize local food drives, help with St. Joseph Parish events, and proudly take part in patriotic events including flag ceremonies, community parades, and honoring our Veterans.
